About Dr. Gaughan
Dr. Gaughan is the founder and owner of Gaughan Psychological Services, LLC. He is a licensed psychologist in the states of Missouri and Kansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri and his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia. He completed his predoctoral internship in clinical and forensic psychology at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, and his postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri.
Prior to opening a full-time private practice, Dr. Gaughan served as a staff psychologist at Truman Medical Centers, where he provided behavioral health consultation and individual psychotherapy and conducted a variety of psychological assessments. In addition, he has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Rockhurst University and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where he provided training and supervision in cognitive-behavioral therapy to psychiatry residents. He has co-authored publications in various professional research journals, including the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Personality, Journal of Personality Disorders, and Assessment. He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for multiple professional journals and presented at several national conferences, including those of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy.
